In this edition, we examine the use of Ganoderma lucidium (Reishi) in the management of histamine-mediated allergic response (hayfever) in adults and children. In addition, the role of Epstein-Bar Virus (EBV) in cancer growth is examined, with specific links to nasopharyngeal carcinoma, Burkett's lymphoma, Hodgkin´s disease and breast cancer. Dr. Rajendra Sharma details how practitioners could use EBV diagnostic tests to detect the EBV virus and we review the use of Coriolus versicolor supplementation in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (commonly associated with EBV infections).
In this seventh edition, we present the results of Dr. Julian Kenyon's 30 patient observational study on the use of Coriolus versicolor supplementation in Stage III and Stage IV cancer patients in which he measures the changes in telomerase activity, interleukin 5, interleukin 12 and Tumor Necrosis Factor Beta over 120 days. In addition two case studies on the use of Coriolus in Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn´s disease are provided. Additionally, a case study on the use of Coriolus versicolor in breast cancer is presented. Finally, Dr. Amin Karmali suggests that the biomass form of mushroom nutrition may be a form of enzyme therapy that could have applications in cancer care.
In this fifth edition, Dr Jean Monro explains the impact of a TH1 to TH2 shift is explained in terms of how this condition leads to a severe weakening of the immune system and how with Coriolus supplementation a practitioner can reverse this shift by increasing NK cell activity. Additionally, Marijke Pfeiffer demonstrates in HIV clinical cases how Coriolus supplementation can increase CD4 levels and decrease viral load in these patients; thereby laying the foundation for the use of mushroom nutrition in viral infection. .
